Chinese Poem: Jin-Sê (Storyboard Design)

Inspiration is from famous Chinese Tang Dynasty poet Li Shang-Yin's representative work "Jin-Sê".

This poem is composed of four ancient Chinese stories and myths;

It's the poem's feelings about his personal encounters.

It is also the poem's sadness towards the passing years.

POEM

Jin-Sê

( The ornamented zither )

                                  Li Shang-Yin

The ornamented zither, for no reason, has fifty strings;

Each string, each bridge, reminds one of a youthful year.

Master Zhuang was confused by his morning dream of the butterfly;

Emperor Wang's heart in spring is entrusted to the cuckoo.

In the vast moonlit sea, pearls shed tears;

At sun-warmed Blue field, jade engenders smoke.

This feeling might have become a thing to be remembered;

Only, at the time one was already bewildered and lost.

Master Zhuang was confused by his morning dream of the butterfly;

Zhuang-Zi, a Taoist philosopher. He dreams that he's a butterfly, but he has problems distinguishing dreams from reality. Does he picture the butterfly in his head, or is his entire existence as a human being simply an image in the head of the butterfly

At sun-warmed Blue field, jade engenders smoke.

Blue field is a mountain, a famous place for producing jade. Under the sun's rays, the jade gas evaporates from the mountains. The ancients believed that treasures have a kind of phosgene that cannot be seen by ordinary eyesight. You can feel it from a distance, but you can't see it when you walk in.
